Advanced Edge Computing & Intelligent Edge Gateways
The IoT market is inherently heterogeneous, and the majority of the challenges are at the Edge (Edge computing essentially pushes applications, data and computing power (services) away from centralized points to the logical extremes of a network.) Learn about an approach to taming (1) Hundreds of protocols, (2) Mix of IP and non-IP connectivity, (3) Widely distributed computing nodes, often in unsecured areas, and (4) Need for real-time response, regardless of backend connectivity. Enter the EdgeX Foundry (“EdgeX” for short), which is a vendor-neutral open source project hosted by The Linux Foundation, and is a common open framework for IoT edge computing. The EdgeX framework enables developers to decouple their preferred Edges and Clouds as close to the physical world as possible, minimizing reinvention of key elements for data ingestion, security and management and benefitting from flexibility and choice (e.g. build vs. buy from the open ecosystem).
